Sometimes, out of pain, comes beauty.
I founded this non-profit organization after losing my dad to pancreatic cancer in 2012.
He was diagnosed with stage 4, and I was living in Los Angeles. I began flying back and forth to Michigan (where he lived), at least once a month for 6 months. I wasn't sure how much time he had left, but I knew it wasn't long.
I could not imagine that situation if I wasn't able to be there for him, and have those intimate conversations. The ones where he told me I had grown up to be the man he had hoped, and I was able to tell him that having him coach my sports was amazing.
I want to give that gift to those who cannot afford to have that same closure I did.
I was fortunate enough to receive a call from FOX News, for the chance to tell my story to their viewers.
We designed a responsive, simple site that would communicate my story and drive engagement.
The Extra Mile Flyer by TAIT
We partnered with Matthew Tait, of TAIT DESIGN to create this collaboration of his very popular FLYER series. He's been kind enough to manufacture this limited edition balsa wood memento that donates 10% of profits to our organization. Pick one up!
And received some love from Comm Arts.
I got a nice Twitter shout out by my pal, Alex.
And a special thanks to Brandan Jenkins, Felix Sockwell, and Brendan Mahn for helping me get the words and pictures set.
